Growing Up in the Present (Self), 2020-10-28

Scope and Contents

For this video, I discuss growing up and getting older in the age of quarantine. One thing I did not expect was having too much time to myself and inevitably reevaluating my identity and who I was as a person at the current time. I used old educational videos to contrast how I was feeling, what I was doing, and what I was thinking. These old videos were created with the intent to inform the watcher how to live their life and what to expect in the future. I felt that the type of assurance these videos guaranteed were at great odds with how I was and am currently feeling while going through my life. The video was slightly incomprehensible and jumbled because that was how I've been feeling since taking classes online and living my life indoors. In the grand scheme of things, my singular experiences and descent into unknown territory are inconsequential, especially since the current state of everyone's lives being indoors is meant for the safety of all. But despite my path into unending, unknowing territory from here on out, the only thing I can consistently take comfort in is my own existence, no matter how jumbled it may be.
