Scope and Contents
Folder contains materials relating to CSUSM's California Culture & Sovereignty Center (CICSC). Folder contains various Steering Committee agendas; grant documents, which include information regarding grants awarded, grants submitted, grants not awarded, grants in development, gifts, etc.; CICSC three-year budget (2011); “California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center, 2011-2012 funding & grants update;” and various NAC meeting notes. Folder also contains a invitation to the CICSC grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, taking place on November 17, 2011, as well as an email from Joely Proudfit to Biggs, inviting her to join CICSC's Steering Committee (September 2010). Miscellaneous materials in folder include “An Abbreviated History of Cal State San Marcos & Local Tribal Communities;” “The State of American Indian & Alaska Native Education in California” by Dr. Joely Proudfit with Dr. Theresa Gregor (2016, possibly a draft); Memorandum, from Graham Oberem, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding funding opportunities for university activities and projects (2015); Letter from Tishmall Turner to Senate Executive Committee, regarding comments she offered at the Academic Senate meeting in Dec 2013 (letter written Feb 14 2014); “Preserving the Luiseno Language” article clipping from Steps: The Magazine of Cal State San Marcos (n.d.)

Conditions Governing Access
The collection is open for research. Some materials have been restricted because of FERPA or concerns with Personally Identifiable Information. Select items/Contents have been reformatted and have digital access copies. Access to original [audio tapes, video recordings, etc.] is restricted; researchers may request viewing copies. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Please note that Special Collections and University Archives observes all campus holiday closures as noted in the Library Calendar. For more information, please send an email to archives@csusm.edu.
