CSUSM history, 2001 - 2010
Scope and Contents
Folder contains publications relating to CSUSM history. For example, folder contains the final draft, in addition to early drafts (including an early draft of the title page, notes included) of the California State University San Marcos and Local Tribe Communities: Historical Highlights: California State University San Marcos and Local Indian Tribal Communities, 1987-2007” booklet. This was developed in 2007. The booklet chronicles CSUSM's collaboration with local tribes in the San Diego and North County region. Folder also includes news article written by Onell R. Soto in 2007 titled, “For 20 years, retiring librarians’ work with tribes was about much more than books." The news article discusses Biggs' career with collaborating with and establishing tribal libraries, and also mentions other significant individuals such as Lotsee Patterson, Tishmall Turner, and Patricia Dixon. Finally, folder contains a copy of The Pride: California State University San Marcos (May 22, 2001), but there does not appear to be any articles related to CSUSM tribal committees or activities in the issue. Folder also includes other items, such as a stack of thank you letters from Biggs to members of the tribal community (and possibly the NAC and/or CICSC) when she retired and became Emeritus Professor in 2007; the “Cal State San Marcos: Tribute to Dr. ‘Uncle’ Henry Rodriguez, 13 April 2002;” and a list of contacts for members of CSUSM's Tribal Communities Initiatives Task Force.
