 File — Box: 1
Identifier: SC045 01/21

Scope and Contents

Folder contains materials relating to intern Lynn Boston. She interned at both Pala and Rincon libraries. During the course of her internship, she catalogued books at both libraries and created a classification manual for the Pala library. Folder includes a final draft of this manual, titled, “Pala Public Library: Manual for the Classification of the Native American Collection.” Attached to the front of the manual is an email from Boston to Biggs, asking her to look over the draft. There are also emails between Biggs, Boston, and Kim Laru regarding the internship, such as the onboarding process; the discussion of Boston's cataloging projects and project updatdes; and how to implement the Dewey system at Pala, in addition to the philosophy of the Dewey system and how it is Euro-centric. Folder also includes Boston's final project, "Pala Public Library Internship" by Lynn V. Boston, Spring 1997. The project is separated into four sections: self-evaluation, a journal, a Native American Collection Classification Manual, and a Class, Numbers, Reports and Printing Manual.
