"The Nurseryland Garden Center at 415 N. Ash St. in Escondido, shown here just before it closed last weekend, will soon be demolished. The building was damaged in a fire caused by an electrical short last December. Because Nurseryland's lease on the property was about to run out anyway, the chain decided to tear down the Ash Street location rather than rebuild, according to Nurseyland District Manager Brian Quigly. Work crews will now remove all salvageable fixtures before the building is razed. Nurseryland will relocate to a new site on Nordahl Road near the Price-Costco shopping center on Highway 78. Quigley said the new Nurseryland store should open in December. Until then, the closest Nurseryland to Escondido is on Bernardo Center Drive in Rancho Bernardo."
