Scope and Contents

In this 2025 interview, Rick Blankemeier discusses his journey through his career in the San Diego Brewing industry starting with his work at Stone Brewing and moving on to Modern Times and Belching Beaver. While at Stone, Rick won the Spotlight Brewing Competition with his friend and co worker Robbie by brewing Sprocketbier.

Biographical / Historical

Rick Blankemeier was born in Colorado and began his brewing journey with a homebrew kit that his wife bought for him. This led him further into the industry where he had a long career as the Quality Control Manager for Stone Brewing, the Director of Brewing Operations at Modern Times, and the Quality Control Manager at Belching Beaver. Rick is now out of the Brewing industry and working for a water treatment company called Hydronautics. While he was working in the beer industry, Rick also taught brewing classes at UCSD.
