Folder contains interviews, letters, statements, and press releases from 1995 to 1996. The topics included Ron Packard being named Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman; the Medicare Preservation Act; the FY97 Transportation Funding Bill; the FY97 Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs Appropriation Bill; the Medicare Preservation Act; the Natural Communities Conservation Planning program (NCCP); Camp Pendleton’s housing base in San Mateo; the Republican Health Coverage Availability Act; free trade for California’s avocado crops; electronic employment verification; the Border Control and Crime Fighting Funding Bill; the National Immigration in the National Interest Act of 1996 [H.R. 2202]; Packard’s trip overseas to verify efficiency in the Library of Congress and the General Accounting Office; Packard’s meeting with the U.S. Amabassadors to Russia; Packard’s 1995 hearing before the Subcommittee on Immigration and Claims; California’s highway checkpoints; the Effective Death Penalty and Public Safety Act of 1996; and the naming of Wyatt T. Conditions Governing Access

This collection is open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
