Scope and Contents

Folder contains the conclusion of the Trinity River Flow study that began in 1984 in the Central Valley. Included is the fight between differerent legislatures and interest groups about whether a rider bill should be created to ride the upcoming Energy and Water Appropriations bill to prohbit the Trinity River Flow study from making any impact on the decision of what to do with the river. Letters written to Congressman Packard urge him to vote either way, including letters from the Hoopa tribe of the area, other letters to other politicians have the same purpose. Also included in the folder is the subcomittee hosted by Congressman Packard about the plan and findings of the river study following it's conclusion. Also included is the final evaluation of the Trinity River flow study following it's conclusion, as well as information on the then upcoming Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill for the fiscal year of 2000. Included are letters to Congressman Packard from different people and groups requesting some aspect of funding or support with the upcoming fiscal year. Congressman Packard served as a chairman this year on the Subcomittee for Energy and Water subcomittee. The bill for the fiscal year of 2000 is also included. Hot issues include Trinity River Flow Study, Energy and Water appropriations for 2000, inefficency in the DOE, Maob, Utah, and more. (prep for fiscal year 2000)

Conditions Governing Access

This collection is open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
