Scope and Contents
Folder contains information on a Navy scandal in 1998, in which they were found out to have been shipping napalm from California to Chicago. The folder includes news articles, both in support of the Navy, as well as against. This scandal resulted from the need to offload the napalm stockpile, however the transfer of it violated Federal Law. The stockpile of napalm was located in Fallbrook, CA, which lies within Congressman Packard's district. The transfer was subsuquently halted, much to the dismay of Congressman Packard and his constituients. Contents include news clips indicating a variety of public fears and sentiments with the shipping plan, letters surronding the issues from relevant Politicians like Congressman Packard, which highlights his own interest in getting the napalm removed. The napalm was eventually transported to Texas, just outside of Houston.

Conditions Governing Access
This collection is open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
