Scope and Contents

Folder contains information on the Eastern Transportation Corridor Project, which was awaiting funding following the FY 1994 Appropriations. Congressman Packard and others wanted to gain funds to build up the highway infrastructure which would allow for less congestion and a higher number of jobs for the Orange County corridor. Included to support this is an Application for National Highway System Designation and Funding for the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency. This designation would allow for federal funding to be used for the construction of the needed highways. Also included are other transportation interests of Congressman Packard, including the roads interconnecting towns within his district. The widening of the I-5 from La Costa to El Camino Real was another project heavily referenenced, with fact sheets and letters to and from Congressman Packard highlighting the key features of the project. Other proposed projects include another I-5 interchange enhancement and other road enhancements in the Carlsbad area.
