Scope and Contents
Folder contains letters from Representative Ron Packard, cosigned by fellow Senators and House Representatives, in support of or concern about a variety of district-level and California issues. These letters were sent to President Ronald Reagan, U.S. Congressmen, the Secretary of the Navy, the Committee on Appropriations, the EPA Administration, the CEO of United Technologies Corporation, the Secretary of Defense, and the UMTA Administration. Topics addressed the Mariner Fund; environmental concerns and studies; military policies and funding; refugee assistance; fire disaster in Mission Valley; trade, transportation, health care, and energy policies; and nomination of Dr. Thomas Day to the National Science Foundation Board.

Conditions Governing Access
This collection is open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
