Folder contains letters from Representative Ron Packard, cosigned by fellow Senators and House Representatives, in support of or concern about a variety of national issues. The folder also contains thank-you letters and a Wall Street Journal article addressing Ice T's ""Cop Killer"" song. Topics in the letters addressed military and aviation policies (OASD dental authority; B-2 Stealth Bomber program; Navy's Sea Launch and Recovery Project; strengthening FAA airports and airway programs [VH.R.4691]; Defense Reinvestment and Economic Developmment; National Aerospace Plane program; recommendation of Robert Lagomarsino as Secretary of the Navy; Space Station Freedom Program; USAir's alliance with British Airways; V-22 Tiltrotor aircraft and technology; Instrument Landing System at French Valley Airport); enviornmental and scientific concerns (EPA's regulatory standards for radon risk; United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development; Pipeline Safety Reauthorization Act; Superconducting Super Collider; California Electric Mobility Consortium; advanced technology fuel cells in Antartica, membrane processes research); international relations and concerns (Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge members; U.S. Russion meeting and financial help concerns; removal of Russion Troops in the Baltic; Freedom of Information Request regarding Bill Clinton's trip to Russia in 1969); and various legislative matters (Legislative Service Organizations verification; tax legislation and passive loss reform; Fair Labor Standards Act; Presidential line-item veto; Language of Government Act of 1991).

Conditions Governing Access

This collection is open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
