Scope and Contents

The New Student and Family Programs records consist of orientation materials geared towards acclimitizing and acculturating new students to California State University San Marcos. Materials include student and family handbooks, packets, calendars, and brochures; realia and ephemera; and one poster and one news clipping.

Conditions Governing Access

The New Student and Family Programs records are open for research. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Please note that Special Collections and University Archives observes all campus holiday closures as noted in the Library Calendar. For more information, please send an email to archives@csusm.edu.

Biographical / Historical

As of 2026, New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is a department that falls under the umbrella of hte Dean of Students Office. NSFP works to acclimate and acculturate students to CSUSM with a goal to increase the sense of campus community for new students and their families. NSFP accomplishes these goals through stewarding the campus orientation process, partnering with families to coach them to success, providing resources and programs for new students, and supporting transfer students.
