Leadership 2000 affiliated with California State University San Marcos in 2001 and changed its name at that time. 11 digital file folders that are reproductions of the physical records were also donated to the collection.

The collection is open for research.

The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Please note that Special Collections and University Archives observes all campus holiday closures as noted in the Library Calendar. For more information, please send an email to archives@csusm.edu.

Biographical / Historical

Leadership North County is a comprehensive leadership program that fosters the growth of community leaders who will serve as catalysts in building a stronger region. Outstanding communities are characterized by exceptional leaders who demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the region in which they live and have clear visions for the future. Leadership North County aims to impact the region’s development by preparing an active network of exceptional leaders with diverse backgrounds. Leadership North County is currently helmed by Scott Gross, the Associate Vice President, Industry Partnerships & Services of Planning and Academic Resources at California State University San Marcos.

Previous to 2001, Leadership North County was Leadership 2000. Leadership 2000 was designed in 1986 by Dr. Fran Aleshire, who partnered with Major General Marc Moore, USMC (Ret.) to create a strong network of community leaders who would cointinually imporvoe the region in which they live and work. Leadership 2000 was designed to highligh existing infrastructure and address current issues facing the North County San Diego. In 2001, Leadership 2000 was entrusted to the California State University San Marcos, where it currently operates, and changed its name to Leadership North County.
