"A boy smoking in brush area was responsible for staring a fire which burned about 15 acres of brush on San Pasqual Road, southeast of Escondido, Thursday afternoon. The fire, fought by nine fire trucks and bulldozers from the California Division of Forestry, caused $150 in damage to a telephone cable and was extinguished in one hour."

Poway Posse, which is active through Pow Wow Days, built the 'main street' from lumber salvaged from an old building.
