El Barrio was a community newspaper covering issues of importance to San Diego's Chicano community. It was printed on the verso side of the underground tabloid newspaper Street Journal/San Diego Free Press. The library's run may contain gaps. The Street Journal and El Barrio were printed on a semiregular, weekly basis. El Barrio byline: "The Official Organ of the Brown Berets: Published weekly by the San Diego Free Press."

Scope and Contents Dare to Struggle was published as an insert to the Street Journal & San Diego Free Press, a semi-regular weekly underground newspaper. Dare to Struggle was focused on Black liberation, and contained news, editorials, and other writing intended for San Diego's Black community.
