Scope and Contents

"In producing this Progress edition of the Daily Transcript, its publishers have aimed, without recourse to tedious statistics, to tell the story of San Diego in a concise, interesting form and to convey with beautiful pictures a true estimate of the architectural beauty and stability of our city. Included herin are bried sketches of the firms and individuals who have by their presence here, evidenced their unselfish public spirit and their desire for "Progress" in every avenue of industry. The spirit of Progress which is so essential in the upbuilding of any city, is fully manifested by those represented here. It is such efforts as theirs that are destined to a glorious fruition and we desire to impress upon our readers that it is this spirit of Progress which has actuated our people to take part in a comon movement which has shown to the world the matchless resources and the incomparable opportunities which await the investor and the homeseeker."

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research. Access to fragile originals is restricted when access copies are available. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest.
