Newspaper focuses on regional and national news important to the African-American communities of San Diego County, with African-American perspectives. Content focuses on people, opinion, and news that are important to the Black community. Accruals to Special Collections are ongoing starting November of 2022.

Conditions Governing Access
The collection is open for research. Access to fragile originals is restricted when access copies are available. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Voice & Viewpoint was first published circa 1960, and has been published continuously since. It is currently a weekly newspaper with a readership of over 20,000 and a web presence at The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint.
