Vista Irrigation District brochure
Content Description
Brochure published by Vista Chamber of Commerce, which dates back to ca. 1927. Vista was incorporated in 1963. The brochure is a guide to the irrigation district which became a agricultural center due to the installation of an irrigation system in the 1920s. The brochure covers the district and its importance to citrus and avocado farming, as well as other crops grown in the area. Water was drawn from Lake Henshaw, near Palomar Mountain, and pumped under pressure to the district. The guide also lists nearby attractions and property prices per acre for prospective farmers. The guide contains illustrations of the pipe lines under construction, Lake Henshaw, avocado farming, and a map of the district's placement within Southern California.
