"Fire exercise", 1976-02-12
"Fire investigators from several North County fire departments took part in a training course on ways to extinguish various types of fires in an area at 1154 Foothill Drive, Vista, last week. Fires were intentionally started in three abandoned structures, and the firemen were required to determine their origin. Among fire departments represented were those from Vista, Poway, Fallbrook, Escondido, Oceanside, Carlsbad and other North County communities."

"Marlissa Crocker, Miss Vista, took the first dive into Vista's new $85,000 swimming pool at Monday dedication ceremonies attended by many local dignitaries at Washington Junior High School, including Mayor Orbee Mihalek (left), and G. C. Eikermann, Vista Unified School District superintendent. The pool was a joint venture of the city and the schools and was open to the public at noon today. It is the city's second swimming pool." [Opening happened Monday, August 24th.]
