Scope and Contents

Largely a gay-focused newsmagazine with some content geared towards lesbians, the Pacific Coast Times covered national, California, and local news and culture relevant to San Diego's gay and lesbian community, with a strong focus on California, especially the LA and San Diego regions. Publications also contain ads, events, entertainment, services, reviews cartoons, photography. Library holdings consist of nine issues in total.

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research. Access to fragile originals is restricted when access copies are available. The Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room is accessible by appointment only, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm. Final requests for materials must be made one hour prior to closing. Please submit requests for archival materials at least 24 hours in advance of desired appointment. Materials requested over the weekend will be available on the following Tuesday at the earliest. Biographical / Historical

"An independent Newsmagazine reaching out to the 50,000 plus gay community of San Diego." The Pacific Coast Times was the predecessor publication to the Coast to Coast Times (library does not hold any issues of the Coast to Coast Times). Published by the Pacific Coast Times Publishing Company of San Diego, with R. Appel also listed as the editor/publisher.
